In recognition of Pierce College's 60th anniversary, THE BULL has dipped into the past for a look at classic campus moments through the decades. To complement the archive photographs, we have recreated updated scenes of a lively campus. The activities on the college grounds reflect Pierce as a place of thriving, growing social and educational center.

It is no surprise that the pep of Pierce Cheer has not been dimmed by the decades.

Modern dance instructor Marian Wieser (above and below leading the class) has been teaching creative dance classes at Pierce since 1963. Both photos were taken in the dance studio in the North Gym, and clearly the modern styles of the 1970s still strike a note with students who continue to fill the studio each semester, eager to learn the enduring style.

Who likes short shorts? Pierce girls like short shorts! Bermudas may have been banned back in 1958, and while Ann Marr may have called shorts "Whistle Bait," in her booklet " 'Specially for You," on the ban, clearly time has shown that the style is here to stay.

Whether it be the late 1950s or 2007, the busy news staff at The Roundup continues to generate interesting reports to its readers. With the world drastically changing around the newsroom, the weekly paper made its necessary changes to keep moving forward. Typewriters may no longer be the machine of choice, and writers along with photographers may have come and gone, but the sense of urgency as a deadline approaches remains the same.

You're not "with it" if you think you are a privileged character just because you have a car. Officers writing citations are a staple in Pierce pop culture just as much as finding a parking spot is.... And although the automobiles may have become faster, and the officers tougher, parking tickets have remained the same - inconvenient, ill-timed and problematic. Above, a campus police officer cites an improperly parked vehicle in front of the Plant Services Building in 1973. Pictured below is sheriff's officer Jesus Frederico.
